DIY TULIP BASKET

Sharing is caring!

I am desperately waiting spring to arrive so I thought it’s time to create a lovely DIY tulip basket for my front door! Maybe it will make spring come sooner:-)DIY TULIP BASKET- SPRING DOOR DECOR 1(3 of 4)

But seriously guys! I am totally ready for spring! I had enough of the cold weather, and I love nothing more than spring.

Today’s post is my standard monthly FloraCraft® post. This time, each member received a couple of boxes of Make It: Fun® Foam Project Bricks. First I thought I will make some cool building project with my boys, but then we never got around it, so I stayed with an easy and pretty door decor. I have wanted to create a tulip door decor forever, but I never scratched it off of my list. So after thinking a bit of what to create I had two fun ideas. The first idea entirely failed. Yup! That happens to me sometimes!  I created this fun wall art but by the time I got to the end of the project I realized that the lines were not straight, and it was just not looking ok (or at least, to me). Sigh! But I wanted to show you what the idea was so if you like it you can still make it at home.  I glued the little brick pieces to the back panel of a picture frame leaving some space between. But I guess I did not pay much attention and my lines were all drunk-lol. The idea was inspired by my B&W pillow (in sight).

After looking at this wall art for a while, I decided to create my second idea. When I don’t love something, I either recreate or make something else. I have to LOVE it to share it here:-)

Now onto the spring tulip basket.

You will need:

  • Make It: Fun® Foam Project Bricks
  • One square shaped hanging wall decoration from dollar store to use as a base for the basket
  • Tacky glue or hot glue gun
  • Faux tulips from Michales (using my coupons all these tulips cost $10)

I used the back of my wall hanging as a base for the basket. It was just the perfect piece ( from the dollar store), so I went ahead and bought it. But you can totally cut a piece of wood or any hard surface to build your basket onto.

I started building the brick pieces from one side and using hot glue gun I glued the pieces together. I built up one side then the other. Then I added the top rows leaving an inside space for the tulips. It was a pretty fast process. (Tacky glue is perfect to glue these bricks together as well if you don’t have a hot glue gun.)

Once the ‘basket’ was done I arranged my pretty tulips in the basket.
