BOHO PATIO REFRESH

Sharing is caring!

Today I am sharing my BOHO patio refresh.

I was invited to join this fantastic blog hop hosted by Krista over at The Happy Housie. This hop came at the right time as I have been planning on doing a mini refresh on my awesome patio that we tackled two summers ago and you know I love to showcase the changes I make around here.

Time flies, guys! It’s hard to believe the patio renovation we did was 2 summers ago. And if you haven’t seen, our DIY outdoor kitchen was featured in Better Homes and Gardens current issue. So so honored. Truly I am!

Ok. So let’s go down on memory lane and see what this outdoor space looked like before. Just for FUN!  Because it’s a jaw-dropping BEFORE for sure.:-))

I told you it’s a good one!:-)

If you want to see more on this DIY OUTDOOR KITCHEN project, be sure to read more and get inspired.

But for now, let me just get you SEE some details of this BOHO PATIO refresh!

It all started with the macrame fringe umbrella.

I spotted this cool umbrella at World Market, and I had an itch to make my own. You know how much I love to macrame, right? If you have never tried macrame, I recommend that you give it a go. Check out my post on the basics of MACRAME here.

I made a little mini video tutorial on how I made the umbrella so check it out and make your own.

I was obsessed with how the fringy umbrella turned out, so I quickly got right onto making those macrame curtains for my pergola as well.:-) This is how I roll you guys! Projects after projects.

I also added a new rug for this season. I had a plastic outdoor rug last year on the second level, and I LOVE it so much that I decided to get the same material for the lower level. The rugs I used to have always get ruined by the end of the summer and the plastic I had last year is in the same excellent shape.

So I found this awesome rug at Bed Bath and Beyond for $25. What a deal, right? And it’s 6×9′!!! And it’s double-sided. The other side is white with black design.

Plants!

I love to have plants in my outdoor space. Plants make me happy so I keep them around! I am also a sucker for cool planters and lanterns. Like I have a LOT of them.

And none of these planters are new. I have them for years and they look better and more authentic as they age.

I grabbed those two wind chimes at Target at one of the visits. They were so cute, could not leave them behind!

The second level hasn’t changed anything since last year.  But I love it as it is. I truly do!! It’s our launge area where we hang out after dinner.

Earlier this summer I was playing with the idea, to add a stocktank pool, like my sweet friend has on her yard, but then I totally dropped the idea!

I just LOVE this outdoor space as is.!

Oh, one more thing…

I have a macrame hammock sitting in a garage- and hoping to find a good spot for it soon.:-))

UPDATE:: I had to come up with a Hammock stand – check it out!

I hope you enjoyed this mini patio refresh, friends!!!!

  1. Would love to find a rug like the one on your patio. BB&B does not have it on their website. It must be from last year?

  2. I love your deck and I’ve been inspired to put a macrame fringe on our patio umbrella! I have a question: for the outdoor plant macramés did you use nylon rope (for weatherproofing) or regular macrame rope?

  3. Hello, beautiful space!
We are currently working on our outdoor patio and this inspired me big time. Can you share more info on the outdoor kitchen ?
    Thanks

  4. Can I ask: how did you map this out? Using pen and paper, or an app? I have a large garden/patio area, and it’s hard to envision what I’d like it to look like and dimensions, etc.

    1. Dee, I did not use an app. I planned in my head and on paper.:-) Definitely plan it out before you start on your project!! And I agree, it’s not easy to see dimensions and such but if you sketch it out, it helps.

  5. Great kitchen and I love all the plants, very lush and cozy! Enjoy your summer in the backyard and thanks for participating in the blog hop.
