THANKSGIVING TASTES AND TABLESCAPES-GREEN BEAN SALAD WITH PRUNES
Happy Monday Everyone! Isn’t it crazy that we just stepped into November? Grrr…with the new month the cold weather arrived here in VA as well. Thanksgiving is upon us so I grouped together with a few of my bloggy Friends to bring you some of our inspiring Thanksgiving tablescape ideas and  recipes that you can try for yourself.
Thanksgiving day is a special day. It is a peaceful day, spent with your loved ones, warm and filled with lost of love. My family is not close to me, unfortunately. We usually spend this special day with close friends. It looks like, this year I will host Thanksgiving dinner at our home.
I like pretty table settings but I never go over the top with table decor. I like to use things that I already have at home and of course my decorations always include some DIY projects as well.
Last year’s table decor was orange and green inspired – ( check it out HERE.) and I still love to go back and look at those pictures.
My inspiration usually starts out with a great color. When I see some pretty color my creative mind starts rolling.
This time I was inspired by a gorgeous cranberry color leaf that I drove by the other day. It was incredibly bright and beautiful and I had to stop to take a few branches home:-)
I love fall!
The beautiful foliage amazes me throughout the fall season and I love to decorate my home with these pretty colored leaves, fresh branches and really anything that I can bring in from my backyard.
So, let me show you what I have came up with this year.
Get ready for lots of pictures:-)
I got on the famous “gold” bandwagon this year and  I feel like I am adding golden touches everywhere throughout my house. The painted bottles were DIY-ed  as a part of my fall centerpiece. (click here for TUTORIAL)
Do you spot that pretty golden bowl? It was one amazing few dollar Goodwill find:-)
I found these pretty ( I think they pretty) numbered tags at IKEA ( oh- they have so many pretty stationary stuff now) and I used it to add a little fun to the table.
The leaf stamped napkins were DIY-ed, tutorial HERE. I hang them in the kitchen too and they make such pretty decor to my house.
I did not place the silverware next to my plates but I displayed them in a nice napkin ring.
Cranberries….
…love their colors…and their taste….and they also make fantastic and simple decoration on a table
Isn’t it simple yet pretty?
I wasn’t sure if I need my rattan placemats…I felt that I had enough decor on the table already.
But for a few shots I placed my rattan place mats under the plates to see if I like it…
and of course I loved it both ways:-)♥
What do you think?
Gold and cranberry color mixed together makes an amazing feel to this table.
If you loved it PIN this image for later;-)
Now It’s time to share my recipe with you.
Do you usually put green bean casserole on your Thanksgiving table? I bet you do.
Try something different this time.
Yep…that’s right, green bean salad with feta, onions, pecans and prunes.
Oh my deliciousness!!
It is a cold salad and it will go well  your Turkey or if you are not  ready to switch your same old casserole recipe, use it another time. It is a very flavorful side dish.
- 1 lbs green beans, ends removed
- 1 cup red onion
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 up pecans, chopped
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 tbs dill
- 1/2 tsp garlic (minced)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground pepper
- 1/2 cup dried prunes
- Cook the cleaned beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, drain and immerese them in ice cold water to keep them crisp.
- Drain water and pat the beans dry.
- Whisk together olive oil, vinegar, dill, garlic. Add 3/4th of feta, red onion and pecans. Toss, then top with the remaining 1/4th.
- Enjoy!
I am pretty sure my guests will love this salad. We could not stop eating it with hubby:-)

It’s not just simple but pretty – it’s simple but gorgeous! Love the touches of gold combined with the cranberry!
Aniko that recipe seriously sounds divine – feta with green beans and then the sweetness of the prunes?! And the fact that it is served cold makes it so appealing to me for Thanksgiving day because I always find it so challenging to heat everything before serving. This is the perfect turkey side dish! And your table is oh so pretty – I love the rust and orange elements with the gold and white, so fresh and lovely!
I am seriously feeling the taste in my mouth of this wonderful recipe right now- oh so hungry:-). Give it a try, it won’t disappoint you! Glad you like my table decor too:-)Can’t wait to see your table and recipe, Lisa! Hugs!
Your table looks amazing Aniko! I too love the deep color of the cranberries and yes on the ratan placemats 🙂 Very simple and pretty. And the place card holders are so much fun and unexptected.
