Sharing is caring!

So you want a gorgeous vintage rug? I am sharing some tips on buying vintage rugs today, so you have come to the right place. Vintage rugs boomed into the design market in the past few years, and it’s the THING now. And I get it why. Vintage rugs have that flair and vibe that no other rug will add to your space.

Last year we remodeled two of our bathrooms. Yup. Two within a year…that was a bit of a project! But to tell you the truth, those bathrooms are my favorite spaces right now in the house:-). While I was working on my mood (design) boards for my bathroom plans, I kept coming back to one inspiration image that showcased a cool vintage rug. And this picture stuck in my mind, and I could not get away from the idea of getting a vintage rug to my bathrooms.

This was the lovely inspiration photo!

Awesome, isn’t it?

Then all the sudden I found myself digging and browsing the web for vintage rugs, and I want to share a few tips on buying a vintage rug today with you.

1. Why buying a vintage rug on the web?

You can start visiting your local thrift shops, but the chances are that you won’t find the rug you are looking for. Okay — if you are lucky, yes you may find something that has the color, pattern and price tag that fits your need,  but you might have to keep hitting your local shops just a few times before you can locate the perfect piece for your space. I came across the online store called  SF Rugs, and I never looked furthermore. SF Rugs always have a great variety of vintage rugs listed and let me tell you, they never disappoint.

With vintage rugs, it’s important to see the real color or in that matter the discoloration of the rug, patterns and if the rug is in good shape or not. And some sellers like to make you believe that the rug has beautiful vibrant colors ( with the help of photoshop), then when you get your rug at your door, you’ll be disappointed. That’s no cool! I ordered two rugs from SF Rugs and both times the rug was exactly like the photo that was listed online and this mama was happy dancing right at the front door.

Below are a few AH-mazing rugs from their site ( that I might order later:-))

Okay…Tip number 2!

2. Do your research and read about your seller and their process of selling their rugs

When I stumbled upon SF Rugs, I immediately went on and read about the company as I wanted to make sure that these rugs were well cleaned ( so I don’t have to pay extra cleaning on the top of the price tag) before shipping. That was one important factor for me.

2. Communicate with your seller

Don’t afraid to ask! It’s going to be your rug in your space, and you want to have the perfect one. I know! It has to be the perfect one! Right? If you are on the hunt for a particular kind, color or size be sure to communicate that to your seller! They will help you to find the absolute perfect rug!

This lovely rug that I ordered for my guest bathroom was small but utterly fitting into my small bathroom. As you see, the rug was a bit worn, but that’s the beauty of it.
