5 BACK TO SCHOOL ORGANIZING IDEAS

Sharing is caring!

I have some back to school organizing ideas to share with you all today!

It’s August, and we have one more month until school starts here in VA. Wow! Where did summer go? I was so excited when my sweet friend, Amber from Restless Arrow invited me to join a fabulous group of bloggers to share our back to school ideas. If you are coming from Primitive and Proper, welcome! I have to admit that I am not the most organized person, but I try so hard to be one. Sometimes motivation is thriving, but I have days when I am struggling with keeping up with everything. My little monkey is going to start kindergarten this year so I will have double as many school papers laying around on my kitchen island.

LET’S SEE THOSE BACK TO SCHOOL ORGANIZING IDEAS

KEEP YOUR ENTRYWAY ORGANIZED

What does the entryway have to do with back to school? Well, in our family we keep everything simple and easy for the kiddos to work around. Last fall we updated our entryway with storage baskets ( best decision EVER), and we added DIY hangers. I can’t tell you how much we love this setup. The backpacks are put away for the summer normally but in a few weeks, they will be back on their hangers. When my boys come home from school, they know that they need to unpack their lunch boxes and folders which go on the kitchen island for mommy to check out, and the backpack goes onto its hanger.

KEEP SCHOOL PAPERS IN SEPARATE FOLDERS

I love, love, love our magazine rack that we keep for school papers and in and outgoing mail. This fun organizer is very useful and stylish also.  I painted mine with yellow spray paint a few years ago:-) Each kid has a folder, and all the school paper goes in here instead the top of the kitchen island. 🙂

KEEP SCHOOL EVENTS, PARTY  INVITES, SPORTS EVENTS REMINDERS IN ONE PLACE

I have a cork board in my entryway that I covered with fabric about three years ago, and I just recovered it with some leftover shibori fabric last month, and I keep that board to pin events, party invites, and important dates on so they are always in front of our eyes.

KEEP THE HOMEWORK STATION ORGANIZED

I think that’s the hardest thing for my son to keep his desk organized. Now that he is going to second grade he will have more homework, and a clean place definitely will be helpful. I just know that when my desk is clean and organized, I am so much more productive.

I also love to have his chores displayed, so he is aware of his to-dos on a daily basis.

ORGANIZE OUTFITS

My kiddos are seriously driving me crazy with how picky they are. My older son only wears one short and one shirt ALL summer. As much I would love him to wear cute and stylish clothes he won’t wear them. He sticks to his athletic clothes and to tell you the truth; I don’t blame him. Athletic clothes are more comfortable for his activities than cargo pants, right? So be it! This momma has laundry to do every night.  Keeping their closet nice and organized helps me and helps them, too, to pick out their outfits each night.

  2. Well, that time of year is right around the corner back to school, that is.  I always feel like I need to try hard to organize myself and get into the routine after the lazy days of summer, and this year, with my daughter heading in third grade, I really wanted to get the year off to a good start.

  3. You already know how much I love your entry way! That closet! That desk space! I love how you use color in your home. I’m so thankful you joined us and so thankful my little man isn’t the only one that loves some athletic clothes!!!!!
