This is not my room. Nope.
But there is going to be something fun in the making in the next six weeks. I am so excited to take the opportunity again ( 4th times) and makeover one of our rooms in 6 weeks. The One Room Challenge is hosted by Linda from Calling it Home and the challenge goes on for six weeks. There are 20 designers + many other participants ( like myself ) who take the challenge and tackle a brand new design in one of their spaces. The motivation is what keeps me coming back to link up for this fun challenge. I love to decorate and redesign my home.
A lot.
That’s what keeps the same house interesting, and it makes me still love our home after living in here for almost ten years. Sometimes I feel that it is time to move on but then we never take a step further.
So I just keep redesigning our spaces and rooms.
So this time, I chose to makeover our Family/Living room. The room is relatively small, but it opens from the kitchen and it’s a nice sitting, chatting room. We used to have our TV console here but last year when I makeover our Living Room we took the TV over to that room so now this family room is free of electronics and I kind of want to keep it that way.
Let me show you a picture of the current state of the room.

The room has lots of potentials. I love the big windows, and I love the hardwood floor in here. We redid out fireplace  four years ago, and I really liked it back then but now my taste is a bit different, and it’s not my style anymore.
Check out my PLANS FOR THE NEXT 6 WEEKS:

1.  PAINT WALLS – WHITE – ultra white is my choice this time!! I am falling for everything WHITE!!♥
2. CREATE BUILT IN SHELVES AROUND THE FIREPLACE – and I want to paint the fireplace WHITE! What do you think? Yay or Nay?
The built-in shelves will be beautiful white and clean. So as the wall color! I have something like the image below in mind. Aw…love it!

3. CHANGE THE SOFA cover TO GRAY-ish
4. MAKE A MACRAME WALL HANGING
5. CREATE A HUGE WALL ART
6. DECORATE. STYLE. LOVE IT.
Although I am a pretty bad planner, I will try to stay with my decor and style vision for the room.
This is my decor plan for now, but again, this can totally change over the next six weeks.
I found this GORGEOUS rug, and it kind of gave my a good start on colors and decor pieces.

  1. Hi Anika: I found your site looking for a velvet headboard (diy), then stumbled upon your room at a time theme. I like that idea since my husband passed the decorating he did does not suit my taste. Since I do not decorate I must start very small. I love how you listed all the supplies, then tutorial for headboard although mine will be queensized. Thank you for the inspiration to get gutsy and decorate!
