Hello Yellow- Chair Makeover-

Week THREE.

Wow, the challenge is at half way and I have a lot to finish. If you are new here, I fill you in quickly of what is going on. I took the challenge to makeover our BLAH breakfast room in 6 weeks.

Yep.

I like crazy challenges and this room definitely needed some styling. Check out my inspiration board HERE, and my fantastic GREEN CHANDELIER MAKEOVER that I shared at week 2’s post.

So today there is another colorful makeover to show you. By the way, have you seen my SPRING REFRESH home tour?? Spring totally sets my mind to colors. I mean I love colors anyhow, but when the sun is shining it’s kinda making my design style to go cheery and fun.

I had these chairs in the breakfast room since my first son was born… and that means almost 6 years now.

Wow, I only realize how fast time flies when I say it out loud. These chairs had all the wear, stickers, food and yucky stuff all over them. It was really time to either change them ( not my style:-) or fix them.

I normally choose FIX things up.

This is the before pic of it:

Yeah, you agree that it needed help, right?

I took the chairs apart and started sanding them with my machine.

Then I went on with my favorite Rust-Oleum spray paint. This shade of yellow was exactly what I was looking for. Not too bright and not too yellow-yellow.Hello Yellow- Chair Makeover-2

I am still debating if I should give a finishing coat of some sort so the paint won’t chip off easily. Will update you if I figure what exactly I need from Home Depot:-) (Leave a comment if you have a clue)

Hello Yellow- Chair Makeover-7

Love how this chair turned out. I really do. Such fun color while it was such easy-peasy makeover.

Hello Yellow- Chair Makeover-9

Looks like a new, stylish modern chair from the store.

And now I am going to have to make a confession here at the end of the post!

I am a cheater…the project is actually not completely done. Yep, the other 3 chairs has not gotten done just yet…. all of them are sanded already, waiting for the sunny day to come to finish the painting part:-)

I hope I inspired you to get your hands on some spray paint. Be sure to check back next week to see the next project in the room.

  1. Love those chairs! I need some like that (seem smaller than a lot of others) What is that style called and have you had them for a long time? Perhaps Etsy would have them???

  2. Aniko, seriously you have the talent to make anything look beautiful! That chair and styling is so beautiful! I love all your makeover and the teepee is too cute! My youngest daughter Charlotte got one for her Turning 2 Tutu and Bow Tie Tea Party, which is now in her room. Wish I could say I made it. 🙂 Thank you for always inspiring me with fun and creative design!

    1. Glad you like it Kendra. Finally I can see the end of the makeover after finishing another project this weekend.I am excited about SNAP, bummed to miss you!Have a great week!

  3. I’ve used the rust-oleum painters touch clear gloss – i think it also comes in semi-gloss too. It’s non-yellowing and as per the label ‘seals, protects, & revitalizes’.

  4. Chair love. They say if you are in a yellow room you can’t have an argument so I’d take it a little further and say if you sat in that happy yellow chair you couldn’t have a bad day! If the chair will be used regularly I’d recommend you topcoat with a non-yellowing satin poly. Even though the chair is yellow I’d want a non-yellowing formula so it didn’t effect the color over time.

    1. Well, the hallway got a little mini makeover and I thought that yellow would look awesome against that blue wall:-) Glad you like it!
