CREATING A DRAMATIC WALL WITH CONTEMPO TRELLIS WALL STENCIL
*This is a sponsored post with Royal Design Studio. All opinions are 100% on my own*
Hello, you all! It’s One Room Challenge, week 2! Yay! If you are new, here be sure to check out the room plan that I am working on HERE. This is my third time to link up with the ORC hosted by Calling it Home, and I love every minute of it. It’s not only very inspiring to see all the amazing makeovers and follow along each week of the new updates, but it is very motivating to get a room finished in 5 short weeks as well. Lots of planning, plan changing and hard work put into this challenge. So today I wanted to give you a quick update where I stand with my plan. When I created my plan, I wanted to add a dramatic focal wall on one side of the room. What could have been better to add drama then a chic stencil? I have been eyeing this Contempo Trellis Wall Stencil for the longest time. Seriously. How cool is this modern stencil? I could totally see it in my new room.
I stenciled a wall in my boys’ bedroom last year, and I loved how it turned out so trying for this Modern Contempo Trellis Stencil from Royal Designs Studio was no question at all. Here is the empty wall I had and where I envisioned this pretty awesome stencil.
We painted the whole room with Behr- Sentimental Beige. I was thinking to add a nice and clean white color, but then I ended up not having a completely white color.
Materials I used:
- Contempo Trellis Wall Stencil from Royal Design Studio
- black paint ( I had it from another project)
- FROG TAPE painters tape
- small roller
STEPS:
Placing the very first pattern in the right place is crucial. If you mess the first pattern up, your entire wall will be off. I made sure that the edges were all the way up to the board everywhere before I went on with my paint.
I used my roller and just a tiny bit of paint with each movement. You can also use a stencil brush ( Royal Design Studio have several different stencil brushes online) but as I said, I carefully used my small roller.
I used painters tape to secure the stencil to the wall, but I also used my hand to push the stencil against the wall and to keep it tight. The paint was drying pretty fast, so I didn’t have to wait long after each pattern was done.
My wall looked fantastic after the entire surface was done.
Now, I am not going to lie… I went off just tiny bit with one pattern, but it’s not noticeable ( now you are going to look for it-ha)
What do you think of all this drama on my wall? Isn’t it a great focal wall? I put some brown accents against my stenciled wall to create an interesting look, and I totally loved the look of it.
This awesome IKEA HACK TV STAND will be shared next week, so stay tuned and be sure to visit back here on Thursday!
Okay-okay…I can’t resist sharing a peek of this corner with you all:-) It might seem that I progressed a lot by week 2, but it’s only one little corner of the room. And I had to get the IKEA hack done last weekend too, as my next weekend will be filled with photo shoots, so I had to plan ahead. Yep, I am a little sneaky like that:-)
I hope I inspired you to check out ROYAL DESIGN STUDIO’s incredible stencil inventory! They have a stencil for every style and taste! Go pick your stencil HERE!

Absolutely beautiful!!
Aniko, you have an eye for design and always enjoy seeing your work! I love your mood board and plan! The modern trellis stencil wall is stunning! What a dramatic different! I stenciled my daughter Charlotte’s room 4 week before she was born and it took my 7 hours just to do one wall! I know how time consuming it is, but so worth it in the end! Can’t wait to see your IKEA hack and how you transform you boho chic living room! Let’s do this! XOXO, Sarah
This turned out beautifully! What a big impact!
You’ve made so much progress…I’m so jelly!!!! The stencil looks amazing and I love your board. Oh and your hack is goooodddddd!!!!
Looks so good! Love the wood pieces against the black and white!
Ok. This is unbelievable. I can’t believe how crisp the lines are – you did an amazing job!! I can’t wait to see how the space comes together!! Gorgeous design…
Wow this wall is gorgeous and so is the whole room! I love the pattern and the contrast it creates! Thanks for the helpful tips.
So dramatic!! I love the pattern, looking great friend!
That looks absolutely amazing! You make it look so easy. I love the large scale and the contrast of the black on white.
I LOVE IT!!! Wish I could do that here too. I’ve had my eyes on that exact pattern, for at least 2-3 years now. Looks gorgeous, good job Aniko.
Gorgeous wall! The stencil is stunning. The Ikea hack is equally fabulous!
WOW- that wall looks amazing! I have a stencil I have been waiting to use from RDS…might be inspired now to pull it out!
I have been considering this same stencil for my entry hall since we rent and can’t do wallpaper. I was excited to see you showed the process. I was wondering if there is any option to get the stencil right up to the corner and ceiling so it has the look of wallpaper. Seeing this makes me want to order my stencil.
When can I move in? Seriously! This room is KILLER!!!!
I adore it! Major props for the corner styling as well. LOVE!
Thanks Girl!! Xo
I love this stencil! Looks amazing.
I love it! I have stenciled a few walls in our home and love how it’s an easy alternative to wallpaper. Looking forward to seeing how you did the IKEA hack too. Great progress!
Yep, it is! I love that it’s easy to tackle and if you get bored with it you can always paint it over:-) Thanks for checking in!
It’s absolutely perfect!!! I spent this week stencilling too, though I still have to deal with the top bit across the ceiling – those inside corners are tough! Already looking forward to next week!
Thanks Kristi! I love it, too! Can’t wait to see your wall finished! Xo
I’m loving the stencil! What a great graphic punch!
Thank you, Jenny! Have a wonderful weekEND!
