OMBRE WALL HANGINGS

Sharing is caring!

This Ombre Wall hanging is simply amazing!Hey Friends! I have been quiet over here. I know,  I know! I am still in recharge mode and to tell you the truth, I am really enjoying it! I took a nice, much-needed break and it’s always so hard to come back to busy mode.

I just started on a big (bigger) project this week (getting things organized – hint, hint :-)), and I will be sharing it soon on the blog so stay tuned! But I wanted to pop in today to share my latest macrame piece. It was a special order in my  Etsy shop, and I loved it so much that now I want to ombre everything haha!

If you have been following me here or on social media for a while, you know that sometimes around this time last year I gave macrame a GO and I got super hooked. It’s such a fun form of art. I shared a tutorial on how to do the basic MACRAME knots, in case you want to join me on this fun journey, and you want to try macrame yourself.

Once you have practiced the knots several time, you can go ahead and give a large macrame piece a try. This large hanging below was my VERY first try, and it still goes strong on my favorites list.

Then, after making your first creations, you can play with all possibilities. Like dip dying your hanging, or create different shapes of hangings.  It’s so fun, and the possibilities are endless!

HOW TO CREATE THE OMBRE look…?

Get RIT dye from your local craft store ( I purchase mine at Michaels), prepare your dye per the instructions on the bottle.

I like to dip the full length that I want to be colored in the dye for about 2 minutes, and then I let the very end of the hanging sit in the dye for at least five more minutes. That way the bottom of your hanging will be darker, and it will create the ombre look.

Just love this piece! If you don’t feel adventurous enough to try just yet, head on to my shop and purchase one of my hangings or this exact one!:=)

And before you leave, I gathered some other cool creations that were made with the dip dye/ombre technique. Enjoy and have lots of fun!

PIN IT for later!

  1. These are all so amazing? I have seen many of the wall hangings that have diagonal ‘dye jobs’ or even wavy ones. Any idea how they are done?

  2. Hi Aniko~
Beautiful work. I have a thing for indigo blue so naturally I am drawn to this tutorial.
Your macrame work is incredible. I’m not sure that I could do that, perhaps will try it over summer, when i have a little chunk of free time.
