We treated our counters with wood oil that the retailer suggested for months with no success.

Then we tried a method  that worked for us and it helped keeping our counters sealed.

The first thing we did was that we sanded the counters well - until it was clean!

After an hour of sending and four numb hands(!), we had the counter smoothened and cleaned out.

Then we applied one coat of natural stain with a piece of rag. Let it dry.

And as a last step, we applied a coat of Polyurethane.
