BEDROOM REVEAL

Sharing is caring!

You guys! I can’t tell you how excited I am! It’s bedroom reveal time. I have been talking about revealing this room for quite some times now, but I always had another project to share so reveal time got pushed.Bedroom reveal-

Hope everyone had a fantastic long weekend with family and friends. We definitely have some real fun and busy days behind and now it’s Tuesday that totally feels Monday. Ghaw!

Okay, so the bedroom. Let me take you back to where I started and what I had in this room.

Malm+Set+bedroom

We were head to toe in love with this brown and orange room when we created it. Yep. Then after 5 years of looking at that dark brown we decided to change it as we were not crazy about it anymore. It’s usually me in the family who comes out with the new design/decor ideas and hub is so awesome that he gives a nod for anything he likes. Of course, we did not want to get new furniture (now I’d completely go for a KING size bed as my boys literally taking possession of our bed….the joy of being a parent…:-))

I created a mood board based on what I had pictured in my head for our new, bright bedroom.

OB-My Bedroom

Oh…the yellow! If you following me for a while, you know that I am completely obsessed withe yellow. I don’t know what it is, but it makes me happy:-) So I was looking to DIY a tufted headboard but what we ended up doing was that we kept our IKEA malm bed frame and the shelf unit that I had behind the bed frame ( see pic above) and we built a nice tall headboard with it that we upholstered and made it look tufted.

Then I wanted to add that pop of yellow and I transformed a simple wooden nightstand, from IKEA, with a little bit of spray paint. It was a super easy and quick transformation.

To store books and magazines I added a small wire basket under the nightand. It totally works and instead of having my books and magazines on the top of the nightstand they are nicely organized into that fun basket.

Next project was the lamps. I found a pair old brass lamps at a local thrift store and upcyled them to a nice, fresh looking white lamps. First I stenciled the lamp shades then few months ago I added that fantastic fabric with a I like it lamp KIT, which is a brilliant idea and I would use it over and over again.

I loved this banana leaf fabric so much that I cut some into this large frame and hung it above the nightstand. I used the fabric in my BREAKFAST ROOM for placemats and had some leftover that I used here.

We definitely wanted to add a nice dresser/credenza to the room. The IKEA tall dresser that we had needed to go and we replaced that with this gorgeous mid century piece (wasn’t that gorgeous when I got it off the auction – see link below !!!) We prettied her up beautifully.

Man, one of my favorite pieces in the room still. Quite honestly I almost sold that dresser few days after I bought it as it had a horrible OLD smell. I read a few articles about how to remove the ‘old’ smell and it totally gone!

So pretty! That two toned painting was a rock star choice! It fits in perfectly with the colors I chose for the room.

Do you spy  that pretty marbled vase on the credenza? Yes, oh yes, she was DIYed, too! It was such and easy DIY project and it turned out beautiful! Marbled with nail polish:-)

This fantastic jewelry box was inspired by a West Elm piece. I love to go for inspiration and recreate fun pieces like this box.

I am a huge fan of earrings and jewelry ( fashion jewelry, especially:-) and I have way to many of them. I easily turned a fun IKEA picture frame into a nice and stylish Earring organizer that now is a part of my fun gallery wall. That watercolor fabric was love at first sight on the clearance section at a local fabric store. All this colors have place in my heart. Simply gorgeous.

Are you still with me? I am almost finished with the list of projects. I told you, it took me more than a year to finish this room so lining up all the projects takes time, too. As the last project in the room, I shared my fun gallery wall last week that  I think  was working on the longest time.

I love a good gallery wall and I created one for our bedroom that has lots of great memories for us and it has some of my drawings and paintings.

The gallery wall totally finished the room. That empty wall looks much better now with lots of personality. I think that credenza was just screaming for a great gallery wall. Most of these photos and paintings can be purchased at my STORE.

I love the colors I ended up having in the room. It’s not quite the same or close palette what I had planned, but I guess when the time exceeds a few months for a makeover it is totally normal to change styles and designs. I feel that my style itself is always evolving so as my design in the house.

As a recap I listed all the LINKS to each posts so you can go back and read on each and every tutorial.

  1. I just saw your gorgeous bedroom makeover on Pinterest. I’ve been working on ours for a while (a bit at a time) but I saved the painting for last. We have the same theme and colors going but I am having the worst luck finding the right gray. I saw that you mentioned using Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore and I’m going to have to definitely check that out. I absolutely adore your yellow accent wall (my room looks like a very similar set up and shape as yours) and was wondering what that color was as well? Anyway, thank you for the tutorials and all the info. Beautiful, beautiful work! I’ll be definitely visiting your site again.
