…Oh joy…
Yes
That is my first word after finishing this colorful spring hanging sign that was made with Skittles. Not only looking at it is a joy, but putting it together we sure had some “sweet” moments. Spring is truly one of my favorite seasons. No question. If you following me for quite a while, Â you probably already know that
I LOVE { with capital letters }
COLORS.
I love colors in my house, in my closet, on my nails… It’s everywhere in my life.
I  spotted this huge box of  Skittles & Starburst 30 Pack from Sam’s Club, I instantly knew that I can use these candy pieces for something creative and colorful springy project.
The hanging door sign that I made can be put on my front door, hang on the wall for decoration as well as on one of my inside door for fun. I will show you how easy is to put this spring sign together. You may think it will take  long hours to glue the candies on, but believe me, once you get the feel of it, it will be super quick and very much enjoyable;-)Yumm!
THINGS YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE THIS HANGING SIGN:
–Â Skittles & Starburst 30 packÂ
– wooden letters
– glue { hot glue gun or other glue that hold strong}
– colored paint to cover the letters
– ribbon and thumbtacks
– piece of pallet { I used painted pallet piece}
I opened all my little packs and poured out all the candies so I could sort them by color. I paired colors together that I thought looked great with each others.
Once I decided which color skittles will go to which letters, I painted the letters with acrylic paint. I tried choosing similar color as the candy or at least same shade.
The paint dried pretty fast, so in about 5 minutes I was able to start gluing the candy on the painted letters. I used hot glue gun to apply the candies.
Tip: If you are planning to hang the sign on your front door, I would recommend using some sort of other strong glue because the hot glue won’t hold the candies on, due to heat and direct sun. Also, coat the candies with clear glaze so it won’t melt.
I think my little boys were the happiest kids for that hour, while this project was under process. They literally came around in every 5 minutes to grab a few pieces of Skittles. They sure had to try every color of course.:-)
I glued every letters onto a wood panel that was painted previously. I think all the colorful letters looked just perfect with my aqua blue wood panel.
I also used  Starburst candies that came in the big box along with the Skittles – for creating flowers to my hanging sign. I flattened the starburst with my fingers and folded into a small “flower” shape, then glued them on.
This wonderful and colorful spring sign can be used in different ways.
1. outside spring sign
2. indoor hanging door sign
3. front door hanging sign
4. spring wall decor – inside
Isn’t it fun to think outside of the box sometimes? I think it sure is.
I hope you liked this tutorial and you will visit your local Sam’s club to get the candies make your spring more  colorful.

What clear glaze do you recommend? I’m trying to make a bowl out of skittles and having a had time figuring out a coating. Mod podge does not work.
