BREAKFAST ROOM INSPIRATION- ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 1
And here I am, signed up for another round of ONE ROOM CHALLENGE!
I’ve done 4 ONE ROOM CHALLENGES in the past. It’s a fun tradition around here :-). If you are not familiar with ORC (One Room Challenge), let me fill you in a bit. Linda over at Calling it Home hosts this fantastic event twice a year. In the spring and the fall. There are a dozen amazing featured designers every season, and if you are a blogger, you can participate as a guest participant as well. I love this event for many reasons; the main reason is that I get the room done in 6 weeks. Yes! I think if I would not have been participating in this challenge, none of my four room has gotten done in a short six weeks. The other reason is to follow along with many amazing and talented blogger in their renovation and makeover progress.
If you would like to see, my previous room makeovers CLICK HERE and browse my gallery. Some of my rooms were just an easy makeovers, but some were a real challenge to makeover in six weeks.
So what’s on my plate time around??I am going to update our breakfast room.
I am going to update our breakfast room. This tiny and dark breakfast room that would be the center of the house. We spend so much time in here as we eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner here on most days. And right now it has no style at all.
Two years ago I updated this tiny place (see it HERE) by re-staining the table and repainting the brown chairs to yellow but the chairs are about to fall apart, and we are ready for an upgrade after about 8-10 years with this set that I scored for $50 at Target’s clearance section. I was going to wait until the kiddos get just a bit older and now that they are six and eight years old, I think an updated dining room set would be needed.
Here is my mood board and what I vision for this breakfast room.
I see a fresh, modern boho chic breakfast room with a few DIY projects.
If you know or follow me you know how much I love to DIY things…like this Built-in, IKEA buffet or this tufted headboard.
For the longest time, I have wanted to build a bench for below the windows with a nice cushion and fun indigo and mud cloth pillows thrown on. So the plan is to tackle that as our first project. This image below is pretty many sums up the color scheme and vibe I am going for.
Then once the bench is done, I am going to add a beautiful, fresh dining room set and chandelier to this space and for that addition, I am collaborating with AllModern.
Below is the outline for my weekly plans:
- Week 1 – Breakfast room plan and details
- Week 2 – Building a bench
- Week 3 – Sew a cushion
- Week4 – Sew some funky zipper pillows
- Week 5 – Add Chandelier, rug, and accessories
- Week 6 – Breakfast room reveal
Phew! I can’t wait to start this fun six weeks again. It’s always a great, inspiring and exciting process.
Will you follow along?
