PROGRESS…ONE ROOM CHALLENGE – WEEK 2

Sharing is caring!

Progress…

Well, we are onto week 2 for the One Room Challenge. I still can’t believe that I just signed up for another round!!:-) Crazy woman over here. If you are new to my blog, be sure to hop over HERE and learn a bit about my ORC history and the design plan for this challenge. This ugly, dark image is for you to see the before. Yes, this breakfast nook was neglected for the longest time. Couple years ago I updated a few things in this room but did not do anything major. It was really time to upgrade the dining room set and brighten this space up and now  I am excited to tackle this small breakfast nook!

Despite that I wanted to share a full tutorial of our built-in bench today, which will be the main DIY project for this room makeover, it’s not happening. We tackled the majority of our window seating project, but we never got to finish it to the point where I could take a decent picture of it, so the tutorial will be up week. I am already super excited about this window seating because I know how much the boys will love it. And how much I will enjoy drinking my morning coffee there with open windows in the spring and summer months. My kiddos will lounge there every morning and every night for sure! Oh, I can’t wait!!

So here is a few pic for you to see how much we got done this past week.

Surprisingly this building project was relatively easy and fast. If you are here to learn how to make your built-in window seating, be sure to check back next week, as I will share the full tutorial. I was debating of what fabric to purchase for the bench’s cushion….I wanted a vintage indigo look, but I also was torn between the indigo and the solid color fabric for the seating cushion and maybe just add more patterned pillows.

But then I went to a local fabric store, and I found this fabulous fabric that I just could not resist. I think I will add a few mud cloth pillows and some solid color pillows on top. Oh you all – I am excited for this room as this is the center of the house and finally it will be ver cohesive with the rest of the house!

I hope you will check back next week for the full tutorial for this bench with DIY cushions!

Before you leave hop over to Linda’s blog over at Calling It Home and check out all the other participants! So fun and so much inspiration!

  1. Coincidentally I’m working on a similar project and I love that fabric!!! I still haven’t found the right one- I was looking for something just like that. May I ask what it’s made out of? Looks great!

    1. I think it will rock my world, too! Can’t wait to lounge on this fun piece of furniture with a glass of wine while dinner is cooking:-) Thanks for checking in, friend!

  2. That fabric is gorgeous! And even if you didn’t do as much as you hoped, it still looks like you made a lot of progress. All I’ve done is shopped so far!
