ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 2 | GOOD BYE CHAIR RAIL

Sharing is caring!

YES, my friends! NO more chair rail!

This is week two on this season’s One Room Challenge. If you missed on week one and you haven’t seen my fun plans for my Dining room makeover, you can get caught up on the One Room Challenge Week One post. I still don’t believe that I am doing the ORC again, guys!

But I am super excited to see this Moody Dining Room being finished in a few weeks. I’ve wanted to see a change in this space for a while, and I thought this was an excellent opportunity to hop on the project.

So…

Here we go!

Chair rail! Yay or Nay?

It’s a big fat NAY for me. I can’t stand it. Never have, and I think I will remove it from my hallway as well. I just don’t like chair rail. I don’t like the style, the look and see no purpose to have it.

So we decided to get rid of it.

The boys removed all the furniture and stuff from the room before we started taking off the boards.

Despite we could have fixed the walls, due to lack of time and energy we decided to outsource the job. Yup! That’s what happens when you have crazy lower back pain, and your partner in crime works all day. So anyways. We found some awesome drywall guys, and they fixed the walls for us.

It was still drying this afternoon, but next up is painting. I am thinking pure white since the large mural will cover most of the wall on one side and I am thinking about adding a shelving system on the other side. I don’t have specifics on that wall just yet, but I want to create a cool bar wall.:-)

I loved the look of this wall….what do you think? ( via Wayfair)

So be sure to check back next week to see how much we have got done.:-)

And as always! Check out the rest of the participants on One Room Challenge official site and get inspired!

And you can grab my free DESKTOP SCREENSAVER if you like pretty florals! You are welcome!:-)

Cheers,

Aniko

  1. Hi,
Love your blog and live here in Richmond as well. I am in desperate need of drywall guys. Do you mind sharing their info?
    Thanks????

  2. Good call on getting rid of chair rail. A random chair rail without molding underneath or above looks so lonely. Going to be beautiful.
