…THIS IS THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR… Isn’t it?

I love everything about Christmas, Christmas decor, Christmas Cookies, Advent activities and all the magical spirit this time of the year. Starting December 1st we are doing a fun Holiday activity {with my DIY-ed Advent Calendar} each day with the boys. Some days call for Tacky tour lights in the city, some days call for Christmas song karaoke, some days call for reading a great Christmas book and some call for baking Christmas cookies.

We love to bake cookies. I have two boys but let me tell ya, they love being in the kitchen with me…especially if we are to make cookies.

I have the recipe for the best rolled sugar cookies  you can use to make a Christmas tree or any other shape.

We were invited to a Christmas party this past Saturday and we made these super cute  Christmas tree sugar cookies to take to the party with us. We were undecided all day if we would be going to the party or not, but last minute we decided to go and we whipped up these cookies in just 20 minutes.

I found these darling Christmas tree cookie cutters the other day at a local store
and I thought they are so darn cute so they ended up in my shopping cart.

The recipe that I am sharing is the recipe for the best rolled sugar cookies. I used Bob’s Red Mill Organic Unbleached All Purpose White flour to make them. Organic Unbleached White Flour is freshly milled from Organic hard red wheat. Both the bran and the germ have been removed leaving the endosperm that is made into white flour. It is not enriched with any additives. This is the same high protein flour used by professional bakers and produces high, well-textured loaves of bread equally as well as it produces light, airy baked goods. This kitchen staple is incredibly versatile and perfect for all of your baking needs.

I have a coupon code for ya, just Click here to download a $1 off coupon for any Bob’s Red Mill product!

We wanted to show off and decided to make standing Christmas tree cookies 🙂

We cut base for the trees with a {flower} shaped cutter, but a round cookie cutter or a simple glass would do well also to cut out the base. Before baking the tree basis I cut a rectangular hole as well  in the middle of the round shape, so the tree could be put in place there.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually add in the dry ingredients.
  4. Roll out the dough to a thin layer and cut out trees and circles and place onto a parchment covered cookie sheet.
  5. Cut out small squares in the middle of the circles big enough to accommodate the base of your tree, make them bigger then you think as the cookie will grow when baked.
  6. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
  7. Let stand on cookie sheet 2-5 minutes before removing to cool on wire racks

The end of the story for Saturday is, that my boys fought all day and they did not care to clean up their room despite that they were told of the consequence
if they won’t do what I am asking them to do.

… they did not clean…

…they kept fighting…

and we did not go to the Christmas party!

Who ate all these cookies…??

We sure did!

The cookies were long gone by the end of the day!

Thanks for reading today!
